Virtual Public Safety Week

Wednesday, May 12, 2021

Join the fun – Watch each day for new social media posts from each of our partnering agencies. Including: Videos, Safety Tips, and Crafts. During the week of May 12, 2021 through May 19, 2021, Purcellville Police Department will be collaborating with Virginia State Police, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Loudoun County Animal Services, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Loudoun Domestic Abuse Response Team, Loudoun County Fire & Rescue, Leesburg Police Department, Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department, and Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad to bring our citizens a Virtual Public Safety Week. Each day during the week-long event, one or more agencies will post on social media a video, safety tip, and possible a craft for all our residents to enjoy. As we continue to adapt to current circumstances due to COVID, we hope this bit of engagement helps our citizens become informed of the resources available to them.

National Police Week is recognized during the week of May 15. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation naming May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The Purcellville Police Department has proudly serviced the residents of Purcellville since 1908; growing into the State Accredited Agency it is today. Purcellville PD strives to provide law enforcement services in partnership with the community that provide a safe environment with the highest quality of life for all residents, business owners and visitors to enjoy.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate Emergency Medical practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. EMS Week allows communities to recognize that emergency medical services are an essential public function and a vital component in the medical care continuum. The Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad (PVRS) provides emergency medical and rescue services for our community, staffed completely by volunteers. PVRS counts on community support for its operations.
