PURCELLVILLE, VA   July 21, 2023 - 

 

 

07/14/23          6:01 p.m.                     200 Block of Croft Square                  Harassment

 

The complainant reported that he had received 20 unwanted text messages from a woman whom with he was acquainted. He reported that he never blocked her number but did send a text asking her to stop. This was not successful.   He was not desirous of prosecution.  

 

 

07/14/23          11:07 p.m.                   900 Block of Strawberry Court           Welfare Check

 

Police received a “gaggle alert” from Loudoun County Schools, as several concerning e-mails were sent from a student account. Police spoke to the mother of the child and confirmed that all was well and no additional intervention was required. 

 

 

07/15/2023       2:37 a.m.                     610 W. Main Street                             Curfew Violation

 

An officer observed two juveniles entering a car with a juvenile female in the driver seat.  The officer engaged the kids in discussion and discovered that the three were 16, 16, and 15.  The driver was operating on a learner’s permit.  Grateful parents were called and picked up their respective children.   

 

 

07/15/23          1:37 p.m.                     On-line                                                Fraud

 

The complaint received an e-mail in reference to “suspicious purchases” on her account and was directed to call a number.  She spoke to a purported “representative” of Capital One bank, who got her to download the “MyDesk” app, which gave the fraudster access to her bank account.  Suspicious, she used another phone to call Capital One Bank directly, but was on hold while the crook transferred Approximately $2400.00 from her account.   Capital One Bank is aware of this case and secured her accounts.   The investigation is on-going. 

 

 

07/15/23          6:43 p.m.                     250 Nursery Ave                                 Found Property

 

A good Samaritans found a wallet, phone and car keys, and turned them into Police.  The receiving officer was able to determine that the property owner had a medical issue and was transported to the hospital. The officer contacted family members, who were given instructions on how to retrieve the items from the Police Department

 

  

07/16/2023       11:51 a.m.                   261 N. 21st Street                                 Larceny

 

Staff at Southern States reported that a subject loaded multiple items into her vehicle and left without paying. This has occurred on at least two occasions, on 7/14/ and 7/15/203.   The officer was able to identify a suspect based on vehicle information.  Following an interview, warrants were obtained for larceny.  The subject was arrested on 7/21/23 and transported to the Adult Detention Center. 

 

 

07/19/23          7:47 p.m.                     500 Block of S 11th Street                    Found Property

 

A nearby resident reported that a baby stroller was in the ditch near her residence. Officers checked with neighbors, but no one claimed it. Anyone wishing to claim the stroller may call the Purcellville Police Department at 540-338-7422. 

 

 

07/2023           2:45 p.m.                     100 Block of N. 16th Street                   Trespassing

 

Apartment Management called in reference to a non-resident who was harassing tenants and yelling loudly.  They wished to have her served with a trespassing notice. Police located the subject and facilitated the desired notice. 

 

07/2023           3:28 p.m.                     250 Nursery Avenue                           Abandoned Vehicle

 

Town staff noted the presence of a vehicle with no tags and a flat tire in the parking lot.  Officers checked the vehicle by VIN number and found no ownership records. The car had not been reported stolen.  The inoperable vehicle was towed as abandoned.
