PURCELLVILLE POLICE SWEAR-IN NEW OFFICER
PURCELLVILLE, Va., June 15, 2023 — Today, the Purcellville Police Department held a swearing in ceremony for their new officer, Larry Michelli Jr. The ceremony took place at the Town Hall Council Chambers and was attended by members of the Purcellville Police Department, Town staff, and the Honorable Deputy Clerk of Loudoun Circuit Court, Kimberly Walker.
The Purcellville Police Department swore in Larry Michelli Jr., who successfully completed the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA). His official NVCJTA graduation ceremony from the 147th Session will take place on Friday, June 16, 2023. The challenging six month long academy program for police officers and sheriff deputies from the Northern Virginia area covered numerous law enforcement principals and procedures, including criminal investigation, legal, patrol, and practical skills. Major components of the performance-based training include first-aid, CPR, crisis intervention, control tactics, firearms training, and driver training. Officer Michelli will undergo an additional three months of field training with the Purcellville Police Department before being released as a solo patrol officer.
Officer Michelli joined the Purcellville Police Department after recently moving from New Jersey, where he was previously a manager for CVS and specialized in customer service. During his time at CVS, he enjoyed building community relationships, and realized his passion for pursuing law enforcement after working closely with the local police department. He enjoyed the community engagement, and was intrigued when assisting officers regarding loss prevention initiatives, and assisting with both deterring theft and providing information to apprehend individuals involved in criminal activity. Officer Michelli is excited to utilize his customer support background to better serve the residents, visitors, and businesses throughout Purcellville.
Please join the Purcellville Police Department in welcoming Officer Michelli to the Department and the Town of Purcellville.
