SECOND ANNUAL PURCELLVILLE POLICE CRAM THE CRUISER EVENT
PURCELLVILLE, Va. June 9, 2023 — On Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Purcellville Police Department will once again partner with Giant Food, located at 1000 East Main Street, Purcellville, to “Cram the Cruiser” with non-perishable food and hygiene items. All donations will be distributed to local food pantries/community organizations to support our neighbors in need. Items requested include hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, sanitary napkins, hair brushes), infant supplies (baby formula, cereal, diapers, baby wipes), canned soup, canned meats, canned fruits & vegetables, microwavable ravioli, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, peanut butter, snacks for kids (juice boxes, applesauce, granola bars), condiments, and spices. Please check all expiration dates before donating new, unopened items to ensure all food provided is safe to share with the community.
Last year’s event was a great success, however we are asking for the community’s support to make this year’s food drive even more prosperous. Many people readily donate food during the holidays, however, summer is often a forgotten time of year when many families struggle as well. With school being out, and many children unable to receive free meals at their schools, these type of events are essential to help serve our community members in need. Please consider stopping by and dropping off whatever you are able, or pick up a few extra items to donate while you complete your regular grocery trip.
The Town of Purcellville, Virginia
“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of over 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for its green initiatives with most recently being the Tree City USA recipient for the 13th year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and is ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
