PURCELLVILLE POLICE HOSTING CUPCAKE WITH A COP

PURCELLVILLE, Va., April 5, 2023 — The Purcellville Police Department is pleased to announce they will be hosting “Cupcake with a Cop” on Friday, April 21st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sweet Rose Bakeshop located at 201 N. 23rd Street, Purcellville. Based on our traditional “Coffee with a Cop” events, which encourage community members to engage in conversations with police officers in an informal, neutral space to build and grow relationships, Cupcake with a Cop provides the opportunity for officers and community members to converse, while also getting to enjoy a delicious, sweet treat!

Residents and visitors are invited to join the Purcellville Police Department for a free cupcake, and some friendly conversation. The event will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Come join us for a cupcake and conversation with no agenda, no speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice any concerns, and get to know the officers who serve in our community. We would like to thank Sweet Rose Bakeshop for their generous donation of their wonderful cupcakes for this event.

This program originated from the national Coffee with a Cop initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, which aims to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. Coffee with a Cop brings law enforcement officers and the community members together over coffee (or cupcakes) to discuss issues and learn more about each other. The Purcellville Police Department traditionally hosts Coffee with a Cop events bi-monthly at various times and locations throughout the Town of Purcellville.

The Town of Purcellville, Virginia

“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of approximately 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the 2021 Virginia Municipal League Innovation Award for Environmental Sustainability and in years past, the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for innovation and green initiatives.  The Town most recently received the Tree City USA Award for the 14th consecutive year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and was ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
