[ARCHIVED] News Release - Town of Purcellville Hosting Public Information Meeting on the Rt. 7/690 Inter. . .

PURCELLVILLE, VA January 18, 2023 – On Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 6:00 PM, the Town of Purcellville is hosting a public information meeting on the Route 7/690 Interchange Project. The meeting will take place at Town Hall located at 221 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville, VA. The project is a new interchange at Route 7 and 690 (see attached exhibit).

The Route 7/690 Interchange project requires the Town Council to consider partially vacating the existing  floodplain easement within the Catoctin Meadows Homeowners Association open space, which was established when the subdivision was platted in 1996. The Town Council has deferred the required public hearing for vacating this easement until the Town evaluates all associated easements and land development activities to ensure compliance with the Town of Purcellville’s municipal ordinances governing such items as open space, floodplain, steep slope, stream and creek buffer requirements.

Officials from the Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI) will present an overview of the project and will outline its application request to the Town of Purcellville. Both DTCI and officials from VDOT will be present to answer any questions our residents and business leaders may have regarding the proposed schedule for construction, the current design and the public value for this capital project, which is intended to address traffic congestion along Business Route 7 (Main Street) as well as Route 7 and Route 287 (Berlin Turnpike). County and VDOT officials will also outline both positive impacts and a mitigation strategy for any associated negative impacts identified to the Town’s open space, flood plain or wetland areas

Your voice on this important project is critical for the upcoming deliberations, which will take place before the Town of Purcellville’s Planning Commission and Town Council.
