A phone was located in the 300 Block of McDaniel Drive. Although the phone was locked, several text messages came through. The officer in possession of the phone called the numbers, leaving voice mails and text messages asking the senders to let the owner of the phone to call police. While waiting for a return message, the officer printed a flyer and placed them at key locations in the neighborhood. Later that day he received a call from the father of the young man who lost the phone. Arrangements were made for a pick-up of the recovered device.

09/12/22          10:10 a.m.       100 Block of N. 16th Street                                           Fraud

The complainant reported that his former girlfriend may have accessed his bank account and withdrawn $372.00. The couple lived in West Virginia at the time, but the reporting party subsequently moved to Purcellville. It appears that the money was withdrawn in August 2022. The bank conducted an internal fraud investigation, with undetermined results. The report was made at the request of the Social Security Administration as the reporting party was updating his direct deposit information.

09/13/22          11:09 p.m.       600 Block of Dominion Terrace          Destruction of Property

The complainant reported that someone threw eggs at his parked vehicle.   This occurred during the time frame of August 31 to September 3, 2022. There was no permanent damage to the reporting party’s car.

09/15/22          3:20 9.m.         100 Block of Positano Court                           Suspicious Incident

The complainant reported that someone or something urinated on her back porch sometime between the hours of 11:30 and 2:30 p.m. on September 15th.  A canvass of the area did not turn up any witnesses, either human or digital. The Town of Purcellville, Virginia

“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of approximately 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the 2021 Virginia Municipal League Innovation Award for Environmental Sustainability and in years past, the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for innovation and green initiatives.  The Town most recently received the Tree City USA Award for the 14th consecutive year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and was ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
