PURCELLVILLE POLICE EMPLOYEES AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS COLLECT FOOD AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR LOCAL FAMILIES.
PURCELLVILLE, Va. August 12, 2022 — We did it, with your help! During the month of July and August the Purcellville Police Department employees collected over 1000 pounds of food and hygiene products, and over 200 pounds of school supplies to benefit local families within our community and surrounding areas.
On July 16, 2022, we partnered with Giant Food for a “Cram the Cruiser” event. This event took place for a mere three hours that morning, and we crammed our police SUV to beyond capacity. We give thanks to our amazing community members who donated a variety of food and hygiene products in support of our community.
With support from the Cannons Baseball team, we were able to collect over 200 pounds of school supplies which will be given to children returning to school this month. During the time frame of July 1st though August 10th, the Cannons placed a collection box at the ticket booth to collect supplies from those attending each home ball game. In addition, the Purcellville Eagles dropped off a truckload of school supplies which gave a big boost to the final tally!
Our community never ceases to amaze us! The generosity is heartwarming, and events like these clearly show what we can do when we work together! Our thanks to all those who participated in these two events! And we especially thank Giant Foods and the Purcellville Cannons for embracing and supporting these endeavors! Tree of Life and BetterALife, are our beneficiaries of these supplies.
On August 6, 2022, BetterALife held their annual backpack giveaway here in town. Sergeant Camp and Officer Calhoun were able to stop by to help.
On Saturday August 27, 2022, Tree of Life will have their Annual Clothing & Furniture Giveaway, at Purcellville Baptist Church, located at 601 Yaxley Drive, Purcellville, which will include a school supplies & backpack giveaway as well.
