[ARCHIVED] News Release - Service Line Warranty Program Offered by SLWA to Town Residents with Utility Accounts

PURCELLVILLE, Va., July 20, 2022 — Town residents have received information by mail from Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) offering optional exterior water service line coverage available to Town residents. There have been some concerns regarding the validity of this information.

Late last year, the Town Council authorized the Town Manager to proceed with the warranty program as outlined by the National League of Cities and administered by SLWA and not the Town of Purcellville. SLWA is an independent company separate from the Town of Purcellville, and this is an optional program that homeowners are invited to enroll in – there is no obligation whatsoever to do so.

SLWA was authorized to use the Town’s name and logo in their marketing materials. Further, the Town did not expend taxpayer dollars to initiate the program and has declined the option to receive any royalty payments resulting from citizen enrollment in this program.

Questions regarding the program can be directed to SLWA by calling 844-257-8795. Again, SLWA is not affiliated with the Town of Purcellville and all products presented in the mailing are optional. Please expect a follow up mailing in about 4 weeks. To opt of future mailings, you can call the number provided.
