[ARCHIVED] News Release - Pedal Purcellville Family Fun Ride and Bike Decorating Contest

PURCELLVILLE, Va., July 9, 2021 — Join the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on July 31 for Pedal Purcellville! Pedal Purcellville is a fun, family-friendly bicycle ride and contest for the best decorated bikes. Get more information and register online before July 28, 2021. Registration is free!

The ride will start at 10 a.m., and riders are asked to arrive for check-in at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at 609 East Main Street (Bicycles and Coffee).  All bikes decorated for the contest will line up for the judges who will select the top three winners. The winners will lead the ride and receive a prize.  Bring your friends and family to ride through Purcellville! Remember that all decorations must be safe, not block the rider’s vision, or impair the “rideability” of the bike. A parent must approve all decorations prior to the event.

The 1.8-mile route is designed for families. It will start from the parking lot at 609 East Main Street. All riders will start together at 10 a.m., turning right onto Main Street, right onto 21st Street, right onto the W&OD Trail, right onto North Maple Avenue, then return to the parking lot of 609 East Main Street. Officers from the Purcellville Police Department will be stationed along the route as well as in a vehicle following the line of riders. No roads will be closed for the ride.

Thank you to Bicycles and Coffee and Velo Classique for supporting Pedal Purcellville and for donating prizes for the bike decorating contest.
