PURCELLVILLE, Va. June 16, 2021 — On June 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m., the Purcellville Police Department (PPD) along with Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) will host the first joint Crime Prevention Seminar. The seminar will take place in-person at Purcellville Town Hall (221 S. Nursery Ave.) in the Council Chambers. Individuals can also attend the presentation virtually, using the link provided below, Sgt. Bridge of the Purcellville Police Department and Deputy First Class John Miller of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the seminar jointly, covering information citizens can use to help prevent burglaries and larcenies from occurring.
Nobody wants to be the victim of a crime, even a small one! It can be a traumatic experience and result in the loss of property, money, time, and your sense of security. That is why it is important to try to help prevent and deter crime, before it can occur. In order to help keep you, your home, and your loved ones safe; the PPD and LCSO have partnered to help inform citizens of simple things you can do to help prevent a crime from occurring. This information session on Burglaries and Larcenies will be the first of several Crime Prevention Seminars hosted by the Purcellville Police Department throughout the year.
The Purcellville Police Department is also proud to introduce a new Crime Prevention tool available to our citizens; Purcellville town residents can schedule a home or business security check with PPD’s CPTED professionally certified officer. CPTED is Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, and is a multi-disciplinary approach to deterring criminal behavior through environmental design, i.e. landscaping, lighting, and building design. Citizens are encouraged to visit the Crime Prevention page on the Purcellville Police Department’s website to review tips on crime prevention, as well as the programs page available through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The Town of Purcellville, Virginia
“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of over 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for its green initiatives with most recently being the Tree City USA recipient for the 13th year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and is ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
