POLICE INCIDENTS REPORT

PURCELLVILLE, VA. July 10, 2020

07/03/20          2:14 p.m.         Main Street at Berlin Turnpike                     DUI

Officers investigating an accident noted the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from one of the involved drivers. The driver was put through a battery of field sobriety tests, all of which he failed. Upon transport to the adult detention center, he refused to submit to a breath test. He was charged with DUI and Unreasonable Refusal:

07/04/20          11:30 p.m.       1000 E. Main Street                                      Larceny

A loss prevention officer at Giant was reviewing security footage when he noticed that the same person, between January 30 and July 4, 2020, was stealing large cans of infant formula, with a total value of $2246.74.  The suspect was seen in videos leaving the scene in a silver Honda Passport minivan.  The investigation is on-going.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Officer Adam Barnhart at 540-338-7422 x 120

07/08/20          8:19 p.m.         200 Block of Frazier Drive                             Domestic Argument  

When a juvenile female who was outside with friends refused to come in at the direction of her father, he picked her up and carried her back to the residence.  No one was injured during this encounter. Officers responded and learned of on-going issues between the two parties and provided them resource information.  No further police action was required.

07/08/20          11:16 p.m.       200 Block of King James Court                    Domestic Assault

A teen juvenile with diagnosed emotional issues was awoken in the middle of the night by her mother who was looking for something in the room. Angered and confused, the juvenile assaulted her.  Police arrived and calmed the situation.  The family was provided with resource information and will be contacting the child’s physician regarding the behavioral issues. 

07/08/20          4:53 p.m.         Town Limits of Purcellville                            Lost Wallet

The complainant contacted the police to report her losing her wallet somewhere in the Town of Purcellville.  Unfortunately, due to not knowing exactly where this wallet was lost, the police were unable to assist in the recovery of this wallet.

07/08/20          9:54 p.m.         200 Block of North 28^th Street                       Found Property

An officer was dispatched for an abandoned children’s bicycle, which was left unattended for over a week.  There were no personal effects with the bicycle, and was taken back to the police department for safekeeping.

07/09/20          1:49 p.m.         West J Street/South 32^nd Street                    Traffic Issue

The driver of a semi-trailer truck misjudged the turn and struck a sign stop sign at this intersection.  After noticing the damage, the driver made contact with the Town and provided their insurance information.
