PURCELLVILLE, Va. June 24, 2020 — The Town of Purcellville is hosting the annual Independence Day Parade on July 4, starting at noon. Because of the current limitations resulting from COVID-19, this will be a vehicles-only parade. Floats will be permitted with limitations outlined below. The parade will start at Loudoun Valley High School on North Maple Avenue, turn right onto Main Street, turn left onto Nursery Avenue and conclude as it passes Emerick Elementary. Participants are asked not to stop and gather, but to continue past Emerick onto their destination.
Participants
Those interested in participating in the parade must complete the online application on or before July 1, 2020. Participation is free. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, participants are to follow these new rules:
This is a vehicles-only parade; ATVs, tractors and similar vehicles will be able to participate; floats are permitted, however, they may only be occupied by groups that have quarantined together
Walkers, bicycles, animals, and methods of transportation other than those listed above are prohibited
Only one vehicle per business, organization, group, or others will be permitted
The distribution of candy, goodies, materials, or other items is prohibited
Parade line-up begins at 11:15 a.m. at Loudoun Valley High School. During the line-up, participants must remain in their vehicles
At the end of the parade, participants are asked not to stop and gather, but to continue past Emerick Elementary on to their destination

Spectators
Those viewing the Independence Day Parade are to follow the current Executive Order for face coverings, maintain social distance from those other than family members or people in your household, and to refrain from gathering in a group of more than 250.
Residents and businesses in Town may also participate in the additional Independence Day Festivities, the Patriotic Porch Tour and the Patriotic Path to Businesses.
Purcellville Patriotic Porch Tour--House Decorating Contest
Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes, front porches and yards for Independence Day. The three homes with the best decorations will receive two $10.00 vouchers to be used at any of the participating businesses in Purcellville. The online application for residents to participate in the contest and be included on the official Patriotic Porch Tour map is due by noon on this Sunday, June 28. The map will be published on the Town website so people will be able to walk or drive to see the decorations.
Patriotic Path to Purcellville Businesses
Businesses in Town are also encouraged to decorate for Independence Day and to be included in the official Patriot Path map for patrons to visit on the holiday. To participate, businesses can complete the online application which is due noon on this Sunday, June 28, 2020.
