POLICE INCIDENTS REPORT

PURCELLVILLE, Va. June 5, 2020

05/29/20          11:53 a.m.       1010 E. Main Street                                       Alarm

Officers responded to the Bank of America for an Alarm.  Upon arrival, the initial arriving officer noticed that the interior doors, which should be locked, were propped open. These doors are accessible from the ATM lobby, which is open 24 hours a day for customer access.  A nearby Loudoun County K-9 unit responded and cleared the building, finding it to be empty.  Officers pulled the door shut and the lock engaged.  A police supervisor spoke to the security manager from Bank of America who indicated that it appeared that the cleaning crew left the door propped open. This is the third occasion in the last three weeks that this has happened.

05/31/20          10:20 a.m.       100 Block of 16th Street                                  Credit Card Theft

An officer responded for a reported domestic dispute and upon arrival discovered that the reported incident happened several days prior. However, the officer learned that the estranged boyfriend of the complainant obtained her debit card number from her Amazon account and used it to transfer money from her bank account to his.    The suspect was not on scene and the investigation is on-going.

A man using an ATM machine found a debit card in the card slot.  He cancelled the transaction, removed the card. The officer was able to locate the card holder and return it to her.

The Town of Purcellville, Virginia

“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of over 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for its green initiatives with most recently being the Tree City USA recipient for the 12th year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and is ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
