PURCELLVILLE, Va. March 26, 2020 — To support our local restaurants and businesses that sell meals, as well as their patrons, the Purcellville Town Council has directed that the Town suspend its collection of the 5% Meals Tax for the months of April and May, 2020. This Meals Tax holiday means that patrons of food establishments will not have to pay the 5% tax assessed on meals purchased from food establishments within the Town. The Town encourages its residents to continue their support of our local food establishments during this COVID-19 emergency. Your business at this critical time will help ensure that the restaurants that we have enjoyed for years will be able to survive this crisis and return to a strong financial position following the termination of the COVID-19 threat.
The Town will provide its food establishments more detailed directions on reporting requirements in a forthcoming communication.
