PURCELLVILLE, Va. March 12, 2020 — The health and wellness of the citizens and staff will always be the Town of Purcellville’s top priority. Like so many of you, we have been focusing our efforts on learning about the Coronavirus and preparing for any potential impact. Our primary guiding objective is to keep the citizens and our employees safe while maintaining continuity of services to the community.
This is an evolving situation and as cases of the coronavirus continue to expand throughout the metropolitan area, the Town will continue to make ongoing adjustments to our emergency plans, general operations and response strategy. As these changes occur, we will continue to provide updates to the community.
Staff is closely monitoring and following both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Loudoun County Health Department guidelines and recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus. In addition to these efforts, we would like to take an opportunity to provide important reminders and resources for you to stay up to date and informed during this evolving situation.
Important Reminders:
Health officials encourage everyone to remain diligent and follow the actions noted below to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:
-Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
-Stay home when you are sick.
-Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
-Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
It is important to note, the transmission of the virus does not pose a risk through the Town’s drinking water or sewage treatment.
