PURCELLVILLE, Va. November 27, 2019 — On Monday, November 25, representatives from Tree of Life stopped by Town Hall to accept a donation from Town staff. Representing the Purcellville Branch of Tree of Life were Susannah D. Lee, Regional Director and Jennifer Del Grande, Regional Coordinator. Many members of the Town staff were on hand for the presentation. The funds collected will be used to purchase turkeys this Thanksgiving and Christmas for those in need in the Purcellville community.
The idea for the collection effort began after a member of staff found out Tree of Life was in need of turkeys for this holiday season. With an ultimate goal of $800, Stacy Werner, Revenue Team Lead from the Finance Department, reached out to Town staff for help. Staff immediately rallied behind the effort and ended up contributing a total of $820. The town manager, David A. Mekarski, stated, “I am so proud of our team pulling together to share the true meaning of Thanksgiving and the holiday season by extending their love and generosity to others.” We understand this donation will help feed approximately 450 people in the community.
