[ARCHIVED] News Release - Police Dept. Community Awareness Notice

PURCELLVILLE, Va. November 2, 2019 – The Purcellville Police Department wants to notify residents of glass being located in children’s Trick or Treat bags.

Two families who were together and reside in the Loudoun Valley Drive and Skyline Drive neighborhood contacted the police to report finding several shards of glass in their children’s Trick or Treat bags.  A door-to-door canvass was conducted to personally notify as many households that could have been affected.

No candy was altered or deemed unsafe to eat, however, there is a possibility of being injured by loose glass shards.   Please be vigilant in checking your child’s Halloween candy bags to ensure their safety. This case is still under investigation.  Anyone with question or concerns should contact Deputy Chief Dave Dailey at ddailey@purcellvilleva.gov.
