[ARCHIVED] News Release - Prescription Drug Take Back Day

PURCELLVILLE, Va., October 16, 2019 — In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Purcellville Police Department (PPD) will be hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26th from 10am-2pm.

This event aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.  Turn in your unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal at the Purcellville Police Dept. station located at 125 Hirst Road, Suite 7A, Purcellville, VA.

We will not accept liquids or sharps during this event. Please see the following link from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration regarding proper disposal of sharps: https://www.loudoun.gov/index.aspx?NID=3520

Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. These unused and unwanted medications often fall into the wrong hands and are misused or abused, and this program ensures they are disposed of properly.
