[ARCHIVED] News Release - Celebrate National Coffee With A Cop Day

PURCELLVILLE, Va. September 17, 2019 — On Wednesday October 2, 2019, all members of the community are invited to attend Purcellville Police Department’s National Coffee with a Cop Day events. Sweet Rose Bakeshop, located at 201 N 23rd Street, Purcellville starting at 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and Market Street Coffee, located at 1020 E. Main St. #1, Purcellville, VA from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., host the events. Each year on the first Wednesday in October, National Coffee with a Cop Day brings men and women in uniform together with their communities to connect over conversation and coffee.

Coffee with a Cop provides an excellent opportunity for members of the community to ask questions and learn more about the Purcellville Police Department’s work throughout the town. If you have questions about this event, please contact the Purcellville Police Department at 540.338.7422, or ckermode@purcellvilleva.gov.

Many interactions between the public and law enforcement occur during emergencies or emotionally heightened situations. This are not the best time for relationship building, and some community members may not feel comfortable approaching officers on patrol. Coffee with a Cop bridges the gap between citizens and law enforcement and allows for a positive, relaxed, interaction.

“Coffee with a cop provides our officers and residents with the opportunity to engage one on one in a constructive informal environment. It is my hope that the community always feels comfortable enough to ask us questions, share their concerns, or simply get to know our officers” said Chief Cynthia McAlister.
