[ARCHIVED] News Release - Construction to Begin on Hirst Road Safety Improvements

PURCELLVILLE, Va. July 29, 2019 — Beginning the week of August 5th 2019, the Town’s Contractor, Arthur Construction Company Inc., will begin work on the Hirst Road Safety Improvements project. Construction will include guardrail replacement and the installation of a ten foot wide, multi-use asphalt path with ADA accessible ramps and crosswalks from N. 21st Street (also known as Hillsboro Road or Route 690) to N. Hatcher Avenue (also known as Purcellville Road or Route 611). This project is being funded by VDOT Revenue Sharing funds.


The work will generally occur Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. During the construction, the roadway will remain open with temporary lane closures during working hours. Total construction time is anticipated to take approximately 4 months. In case of inclement weather or unforeseen events, this schedule may change.


Please be aware of work zones and be alert for changes in vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns in areas where work is being performed.
