[ARCHIVED] News Release - Help Keep the Community Attractive and Pest Free by Keeping Grass and Weeds Trimmed

PURCELLVILLE, Va. -- MAY 16, 2019 – With the rainy weather we have been experiencing over the last few weeks, the Town of Purcellville would like to remind all homeowners and businesses of their obligation to properly maintain their yards to keep the community attractive and pest free.  Overgrown conditions draw pests and create habitats for animals that can carry disease.  Ticks and adult mosquitos are drawn to tall vegetation, leaves and other debris.

The Purcellville Town Code, Section 86-1(a), requires all property owners of developed or undeveloped property within the Town to cut the grass, weeds and other foreign growth to ensure that it does not pose a health risk.  If grass and weeds grow to a height of eight (8) to twelve (12) inches it is considered overgrown by the Town and is in violation of the ordinance.

To report issues related to tall grass, weeds or other overgrown vegetation, you may utilize the Town’s Citizen Issue On-Line Reporting portal on the Town website or contact the Community Development Department at 540-338-2304.
