PURCELLVILLE, VA., May 13, 2019 – Although the morning was blustery, more than a thousand people attended the 6th Annual Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27 at the Bush Tabernacle and Fireman’s Field complex. From noon to 7 p.m., festival - goers had the opportunity to enjoy 17 live music performances on four different stages, view more than 50 works of art from local artists, browse over 25 vendor displays, wine and dine on local food and drink, and participate in interactive children’s activities.
The Purcellville Music and Arts Festival is a free event hosted by the Town of Purcellville, Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, with an art show hosted by the Purcellville Arts Council. The Art Hall, located inside the Bush Tabernacle,- featured nearly 50 works of art, artist Sydney Velandria who drew caricatures, face painting, henna art, live music, and information/activities from local art and community organizations such as Waterford Quilters, Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour, Franklin Park Arts Center, Loudoun Empty Bowls, Pet Connect Rescue, and Round Hill Arts Center. In addition, The Purcellville Arts Council led the, ‘paint a tile” community art project.
Throughout the day, there were performances by 17 local bands and musicians in the Art Hall, and on stages in the Fun Zone and in Dillon’s Woods. There were performances by Miguel Aubertin & IWOR, Justin Trawick and the Common Good, Chris Timbers Band, Franklin Park Big Band, Hungry on Monday, Steve George & Friends, Britany & Marisa, Locrain Mode, Celtic Rhythm School of Dance, KAGE, Dance Academy of Loudoun, The Shamrockers, Dank Rice, Jennifer Warren Baker, Kevin and Michael Gallagher, Everything in Between, as well as solo acts by Ben Demase, Annie Stokes, and Willie White.
The Purcellville Business Association and the Purcellville Historic Society hosted historic trolley tours throughout the day, which ran every 40 minutes. There were three stops on the tour: 1. Music and Arts Festival (Fireman’s Field); 2. Purcellville Gateway (Cole Farm); and 3. Downtown/21st Street (Depot St.).
