Volunteers Picked Up More than 2,000 Pounds of Trash During Town-wide Clean Up
PURCELLVILLE, Va. April 12, 2019 — More than 225 volunteers participated in the annual Town-wide Clean Up on Saturday, April 6, 2019. From 8:00 a.m. to noon, 2,320 pounds of trash and 640 pounds of recycling were collected in 173 bags throughout the Town of Purcellville.
This effort is conducted annually in partnership with Keep Loudoun Beautiful. The new Purcellville-area leader, Clay Grisius, organized the effort with support from Town staff. On the day of the event, Mayor Kwasi Fraser and Clay welcomed all of the volunteers who then fanned out across town to their designated locations. Volunteers were joined by Mayor Fraser, and Council Members Tip Stinnette, Joel Grewe, and Nedim Ogelman. As groups reported back in, Clay tallied the number of bags of trash and recycling collected. The full bags were picked up on Monday, April 8 by Pack Rat Hauling which generously donated its services for this important effort.
