[ARCHIVED] News Release - Purcellville Hosts Lyme Tick and Lyme Disease Prevention and Treatment

PURCELLVILLE, Va. OCTOBER 10, 2018 — On Friday, October 12, 2018, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM, a Purcellville Town Hall Community Meeting will address Lyme Tick and Lyme Disease Prevention and Treatment. Keynote speakers include Luis A. Salcedo, Health Education/Emergency Preparedness/MRC Coordinator, Loudoun County Health Department, and Jaclyn O'Brien, Founder of KeyLyme™, a Loudoun County-based health and wellness company that creates greater awareness and shares education about Lyme disease and its prevention. Mr. Salcedo and Ms. O'Brien will give presentations and answer questions addressing this important issue. Mayor Kwasi Fraser encourages members of our community to attend this educational session to build awareness on the prevention and treatment of Lyme disease.

“Every year, 329,000 new cases of Lyme disease are diagnosed, and many of those are in Loudoun County,” O’Brien said. “As a Lyme patient myself, it is a personal mission to give others the ‘key’ to preventing Lyme through awareness about its symptoms and why it is so hard to diagnose, as well as through education about ways to prevent this potentially debilitating disease from taking over your life.”
