[ARCHIVED] News Release - Arts Council Announces Artwork by Terri Parent/Meet the Artist Reception

PURCELLVILLE, VA July 23, 2018—The 10th in a series of months-long art exhibits in Purcellville’s Town Hall features the works of local artist, Terri Parent. The show runs from July through September, 2018. A Meet-The-Artist reception will take place at Town Hall (221 South Nursery Avenue) on Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30 to 7:00PM. The public is welcome to join Terri and the Purcellville Arts Council for an evening of art, discussion and light refreshments. The show may otherwise be seen according to regular Town Hall office hours (Mon. – Fri. 8:00AM - 5:00PM except holidays).

Terri’s photography is a reflection of her beliefs: every day is a gift. She strives to capture moments in time both ordinary and extraordinary: look at the whole and define the point of interest. It is the artistry of a photograph that makes an emotional and visual connection. She finds inspiration everywhere. Many of her works are printed on canvas to make a bold and dramatic statement. She also has an extensive collection of cards and fabric created from her photographs.

“I moved to Leesburg 3 years ago and have been so impressed by the vibrant art scene and artist opportunities in Loudoun County. Art enhances our communities and Loudoun definitely knows and supports the value of art," said Terri.

In addition to the exhibit at Town Hall, Terri’s work is also featured at Artists Loft Studios in Round Hill, VA; Vintage Magnolia in Leesburg and Purcellville; and the Gateway Gallery in Round Bill. She currently has shows at the Tryst Gallery in Leesburg, Artists in Middleburg, Coldwell Banker Leesburg, and Great Falls Library.

The first floor corridors of Town Hall have a gallery-caliber hanging system which creates and opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work. Art exhibitions in Town Hall ensure that all members of the public have access to art. Exhibits are currently booked through June of 2018 and the Purcellville Arts Council is accepting submissions for future shows. All artwork is decided upon for suitability by an outside jury.
