[ARCHIVED] News Release - Town of Purcellville Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

PURCELLVILLE, Va. May 31, 2018 — The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Town of Purcellville its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Town’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget plan. The Town has received this prestigious award every year since Fiscal Year 2010. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental budgeting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This award reflects the Town’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting. To receive this award, the Town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the Town’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. More information about the Town of Purcellville’s budget document and process can be found online at www.purcellvilleva.gov/budget.

In addition, the GFOA presented the Town’s Finance Department with a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation. The Director of Finance, Elizabeth Krens, would like to recognize Tom Angus for his outstanding contribution to the Town’s budget document and process.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals in the United States and Canada.
