PURCELLVILLE, Va. May 16, 2018 —As a reminder to residents, Town Council recently eliminated the requirement to display a Purcellville decal on vehicles garaged within town limits effective January 1, 2018. This action reflects trends across Virginia including Loudoun County to reduce citizen inconvenience and the administrative burden of decal issuance.
Purcellville decals may be removed from your windshield or motorcycle. Decals are not refundable, do not need to be returned to Town Hall and may be disposed of.
The Town’s personal property tax bills issued in early May and due June 5th still include the annual motor vehicle license fee. The 2018 fee was set at $27, a $2 increase, to offset lost revenue associated with elimination of the vehicle decal requirement. The annual fee for motorcycles is unchanged at $15.
Retired volunteers with the Loudoun County fire department and rescue squad may be eligible for abatement of up to one motor vehicle license fee. Qualified volunteers exempted by Loudoun County should contact the Town at www.purcellvilleva.gov/billdispute to request abatement of Purcellville’s 2018 vehicle license fee.
