PURCELLVILLE, Va. June 14, 2017— The Town of Purcellville’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) and Town Council are excited to announce the first annual “Train to Run” 5K Race and Fun Run for Columbus Day weekend. The beneficiary of the race event will be the Town’s Youth Sports Grant Program, which provides funding to local sports organizations to benefit their activities and provide opportunities to youth who may otherwise be unable to participate.
The Train to Run Race will take place on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 9:00am. The race will begin at the Bush Tabernacle/Skating Rink, with activities both before and after the event. The race course is easy for all skill levels and combines the history of Purcellville – including the historic Train Station – with the accessibility of multimodal paths.
Race registration is now open, and pertinent information is available at http://www.purcellvilleva.gov/race. More details will be provided as the date of the event approaches.
The EDAC is also continuing to look for sponsors who wish to support the event and benefit local youth sports activities. Sponsor information and benefits are listed at the same website.
Whether you are a first-time runner or seasoned veteran, please consider adding the Train to Run Race to your schedule. You will have a great time and benefit a great cause!
