[ARCHIVED] News Release - Consolidated Tax Billing and Collections with Loudoun County; Cast Your Vote

PURCELLVILLE, Va. May 30, 2017— In early January, the Town of Purcellville launched a new citizen engagement tool in partnership with Polco, Inc. that allows residents to view and vote on policy issues facing the Town Council. Using the user-friendly Polco system, the Town has asked numerous questions and received great response from the community.

Currently, the Town is considering a proposal to consolidate the billing and collections process for real estate and personal property taxes with the Loudoun County Government. Under this scenario, Town residents would pay both County and Town taxes on the same bill directly to the Loudoun County Government. The County would then remit the Town’s portion of the tax collections on a regular basis. The Town estimates that it would save approximately $50,000 in direct and indirect costs by consolidating this activity with the County.

The Town Council has considered this proposal at its Council Meetings on March 28th, April 25th, and May 23rd. The Town Council would like to hear from citizens on this proposal.

To read more info and vote on this proposal using the Polco system, visit this link, or go to http://www.purcellvilleva.gov/citizenvoice. The Town Council has expressed its strong desire to hear from residents on this topic and would like to get additional feedback. Please take a few minutes to review the information and provide your input! The poll is open through June 19th.

All of the Town’s citizen engagement tools and opportunities to provide input to the Town Council can easily be reached at http://www.purcellvilleva.gov/engage.
