PURCELLVILLE, Va. March 2, 2017 — Local arts organizations are invited to submit requests for funding to the Purcellville Arts Council by March 17, 2017. Funded arts activities must take place in Purcellville during FY18 (July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018).
Purcellville will apply for $5,000 of state funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts’ Local Government Challenge Grant Program, and match that number in local funds. The total of $10,000 will be distributed to independent, non-profit arts organizations to support activities within the town.
Interested arts organizations should submit a request letter to the Purcellville Arts Council, outlining the amount requested, the arts activity that the funding will support and the audience(s) that will be served, along with a description of the organization. Letters are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 17.
Eligible applicants must be non-profit organizations whose primary purpose is the arts (production, presentation or support of dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theater or visual or related arts), are incorporated in Virginia and have their headquarters and home seasons, or activities equivalent to a home season, in the state.
Funding cannot be provided for payment to performers for specific performances.
The Arts Council will review the funding requests and then make recommendations to Town Council at its March 28 meeting on the distribution of the funding. The Town Council will make the final determination, dependent on receipt of the matching state funds. The deadline for the Town to apply for the Local Government Challenge Grant is April 1, 2017.
Letters should be addressed to the Purcellville Arts Council, Attn: Local Government Challenge Grant, and can be mailed to Town Hall, 221 S. Nursery Ave, Purcellville, VA 20132, emailed to hsalah@purcellvilleva.gov or dropped off at Town Hall.
