PURCELLVILLE, Va. January 10, 2017— The Town of Purcellville is excited to announce the availability of two community engagement tools to enhance community dialogue and feedback.
First, the Town has partnered with Polco to create a site where the Town can receive real-time feedback from citizens on issues facing the Town. This easy-to-use site allows the Town to create quick polls of citizens on any number of topics, such as the community’s desire for additional amenities, voting on branding for the Town, and feedback on policy issues facing the Town Council. Voting on topics is quick and easy and requires a one-time user registration. The Polco system uses data verification to break down responses by those living in the Town and those living outside of the Town. All results will be captured and shared with Town Council in both the aggregate and separated by resident/non-resident input.
The first question provided online through Polco asks citizens to vote on a potential “brand” for Purcellville that can be used to create unique marketing opportunities, such as car stickers and magnets. The second question posted asks citizens about their interest in the Town developing a “pump track” for bicyclists.
The second community engagement tool being launched by the Town is called “Community Voice.” This portal is an idea generation and discussion tool, in which members of the community can create ideas, seek feedback on specific topics, and dialogue with the community on various proposals. Community Voice is meant to be a way for citizens to virtually brainstorm on topics important to them. In addition, the Town may post ideas for citizens to consider and provide feedback. Ideas include Transportation Improvements, Efficiency of Town Services, Open Space, Recreation, and more!
“One of the major goals of this Town Council is hearing from the citizens,” said Purcellville Mayor Kwasi Fraser. “It has never been easier to provide feedback to the Town Council than by using Polco and Community Voice. I encourage all citizens to visit our website, sign up, and use these great tools!”
