National Police Week is recognized during the week of May 15. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation naming May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The Purcellville Police Department has proudly serviced the residents of Purcellville since 1908; growing into the State Accredited Agency it is today. Purcellville PD strives to provide law enforcement services in partnership with the community that provide a safe environment with the highest quality of life for all residents, business owners and visitors to enjoy.
In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate Emergency Medical practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. EMS Week allows communities to recognize that emergency medical services are an essential public function and a vital component in the medical care continuum. The Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad (PVRS) provides emergency medical and rescue services for our community, staffed completely by volunteers. PVRS counts on community support for its operations.
