Are you a new resident in the Town of Purcellville (or looking to move here)? We're excited to have you part of the community. Below is a checklist of important information for new residents.

New Resident Checklist

  • Set Up Water / Sewer Service

    • You will need to establish an account with our Finance Department and pay a deposit. Please visit this page for more details.
  • Register Your Vehicle

    • Residents and businesses have 30 days after moving into Town to register with the DMV or update the Loudoun County Commissioner of Revenue with your new address. In addition, you must pay personal property tax and a vehicle license fee on the vehicle to Purcellville (in addition to Loudoun County taxes). The Town of Purcellville does not "pro-rate" personal property taxes, so you are responsible for taxes on vehicles that were sited within the Town as of January 1st. If you move to Town after January 1st, you will pay personal property taxes the following year. Visit this page for more information.

  • Learn About Water and Wastewater Services

    • The Town of Purcellville provides water and wastewater (sewer) service to all Town residents. Click here to learn about water and click here to learn about wastewater. Here are some important points:
      • Water comes from both wells and a reservoir. The Town treats the water to ensure the highest quality of safe drinking water. We are pleased to receive annual awards for our water quality. Please use wise conservation methods to reduce your water usage.
      • Everything you flush down a toilet or down a sink goes through the sewer system to pump stations, which must pump the waste to our Wastewater Treatment Plant on S. 20th Street. It is important that you DO NOT put the following items down your pipes:
        • Wipes (even flushable wipes)
        • Diapers
        • Feminine Products
        • Grease, oils, fats
        • Prescription Drugs
