Proposed Zoning District Use Changes

Since February 2012, the Planning Commission has conducted a review of the lists of permitted and special uses in every zoning district within the Zoning Ordinance with the goals of making the Ordinance more user friendly by simplifying the lists of uses and ensuring any uses requiring a special use permit warrant this extra level of review. This review resulted in a draft zoning text amendment which has been refined in response to the feedback received over the course of three public input sessions held on July 7-9, an external legal review, and a public hearing before the Planning Commission on September 3 and 10. On September 17, the Planning Commission voted to forward the proposed zoning text amendment to the Town Council with a recommendation of approval.

Town Council discussed the proposed amendment at its October 13 meeting and conducted a public hearing on October 27. On December 8, 2015, Town Council approved the zoning text amendment with minor changes: Ordinance 15-11-01 as approved.

Planning Commission Recommended Draft

At their September 17, 2015 meeting, the Planning Commission made a few additional changes to the proposed amendments and voted to forward the following draft to Town Council with a recommendation of approval.

Planning Commission Public Hearing

The Planning Commission held a public hearing in the Town Council Chambers at 221 South Nursery Avenue, Purcellville, Virginia on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 7:00 PM (continued from September 3) for the purpose of receiving comments on the following amendments to the Zoning Ordinance:

Public Input Sessions

With their review completed, the Planning Commission prepared proposed changes to the Ordinance (see below) and held public input sessions of July 7-9 to hear comments on these changes. All input sessions were held at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at the Purcellville Town Hall located at 221 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville, Virginia.
