The Department of Community Development (Planning and Zoning) is charged with the protection and enhancement of the quality of Purcellville's natural and built environments. We accomplish this goal through comprehensive planning for the Town's future and through administration of Town development and zoning regulations.
The Department is responsible for processing land development applications (such as site plans and subdivision plats), legislative development applications (such as rezonings, special use permits, and Comprehensive Plan amendments) and construction permits (such as zoning, sign and occupancy permits). We also guide revisions to the Town's Comprehensive Plan and land development regulations, and provide staff support to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Board of Architectural Review, and Town Council.
