1. What are the Town rules on building a fence or deck?

Construction in Town that requires a county building permit also requires a Town zoning permit. Additions, decks, fences, finishing basements, and many other activities require permits, which can be obtained from the Planning and Zoning Department. If you are not sure whether an activity requires a permit, call the Planning and Zoning Department at 540-338-2304. In new developments, fence locations and heights may be limited along the roads to address sight distances. Please check with the Town before purchasing or installing a fence.
